| As soon as the theme for the PYA project was decided, the cadets began their preparations to set up a booth during a Pre-Christmas Day Party at Choa Chu Kang Community Centre (CCKCC) on 19 December 10. To attract the crowds to their booth, the cadets decided to put up exhibition banners with anti-UML messages, as well as creating games and activities for the public to participate and learn about UML through gaming. In addition, the cadets planned to distribute freebies to the public to entice them to participate actively. After much hard work and persuasion, the cadets managed to secure a sponsorship from the Citizens’ Consultative Committee to manufacture the freebies. | ||||||
Next up was to select the design for their freebies. The cadets contacted the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) to request for a design for to be printed on their freebies. The NCPC kindly granted their request and on top of that, they also provided them with 300 pamphlets on UML to be given out. A banner on the ‘Ah-Long Hotline’ was also loaned to the cadets. Their PYA project was moving along smoothly. |

Rules & Regulations on the UML game
| Lastly, the cadets prepared some games that the public can participate on the event day. The cadets made 2 sets of matching cards with messages on anti-UML. The cadets also created question boards with questions pertaining to UML. Interested members of the public will undergo a mini-conversation with the cadets to learn about the effects of UML, and after that will take a short-mini quiz. Through the process of playing these games, the cadets hoped that anti-UML messages can be effectively conveyed to the public. With everything in place, the cadets began to wait impatiently for the actual day to arrive. | ||||||
Finally it was the day of their PYA project! The cadets arrived at 4 pm to begin setting up their booth, 2 hours before the start of the Pre-Christmas Party. Initially, there were only a handful of people at the Community Centre. However as time passed, more and more people began to stream in and soon there was a huge turnout at the event. There were many people walking about, going to different stalls, and the cadets were also at the booth explaining to the public about UML. Many members of the public listened patiently as the cadets meditatively explained to them. In addition, 2 Singapore Police Force Officers, Senior Station Inspector Jalaluddin bin Suep and SSgt Rahayu came to help the cadets, bringing along more game sets, exhibition boards and freebies such as pens, whistles and notebooks. |

The event finally came to an end at 10 pm. The cadets were by now totally exhausted but at the same time relieved that they had finally accomplished their objective.
Sgt (NPCC) Justin Chua had this to say: “It was indeed a meaningful project and all of us gained invaluable experience interacting with the public. We are glad to be able to act as young ambassadors for the Singapore Police Force and help spread the messages of anti-UML."
